Dieser wird oft f\u00e4lschlicherweise als Spartransformator bezeichnet, obwohl er konstruktiv eine Drossel in Zickzack-Schaltung ist. Wenn zus\u00e4tzlich die Netzspannung angepasst werden muss (z. wichtige Anwendung von Zickzack-Drosseln im Niederspannungsbereich, die mit der Verbreitung nichtlinearer Lasten (die nicht-sinusf\u00f6rmige Str\u00f6me mit hohem Oberschwingungsanteil aufnehmen) an Bedeutung gewonnen hat. Solche Lasten (Gleichrichter, Wechselrichter usw.) wirken wie Generatoren f\u00fcr Oberschwingungsstr\u00f6me, die Spannungsabf\u00e4lle an den Netzimpedanzen verursachen und so die Netzspannung verzerren. Dieses Ph\u00e4nomen ist umso ausgepr\u00e4gter, je n\u00e4her die Leistung der verzerrenden Last an der Transformatorleistung liegt. Es kann unertr\u00e4glich werden, wenn die Stromquelle kein \u00f6ffentliches Netz, sondern ein Stromerzeugungsaggregat ist.<\/p>\n<p>In diesen F\u00e4llen muss sichergestellt werden, dass die Impedanz f\u00fcr diese Str\u00f6me so gering wie m\u00f6glich ist. Str\u00f6me der dritten Oberschwingung (dreifache Grundfrequenz) und deren Vielfache bilden in einem Dreiphasensystem Nullsystemkomponenten. Zickzack-Drosseln haben eine sehr niedrige Nullimpedanz, wodurch sie das Entstehen entsprechender Spannungsoberschwingungen verhindern oder zumindest stark d\u00e4mpfen.
