Der K-Faktor-Index gibt die F\u00e4higkeit des Transformators an, Oberschwingungen innerhalb seiner thermischen Grenzen zu bew\u00e4ltigen, indem Leiter mit angemessenen Abmessungen verwendet werden. Die Konstruktion eines K-Faktor-Transformators muss die S\u00e4ttigungsneigung ber\u00fccksichtigen, die sich aus nichtlinearen Lasten und den durch die dritten Oberschwingungen verursachten Gleichstromkomponenten der Wellenform ergibt. Die zus\u00e4tzlichen Str\u00f6me, die in diesen F\u00e4llen in den im Dreieck geschalteten Wicklungen zirkulieren, werden ber\u00fccksichtigt, um eine ideale Lebensdauer des Transformators zu gew\u00e4hrleisten.
