IMPORTANT NOTE ON THREE-PHASE TO SINGLE-PHASE TRANSFORMERS:
While the current flowing in the secondary windings is always the same and is the one supplied to the load, the primary current is not equal across the 3 phases: the central phase absorbs twice the current of the other two.
Therefore, the average primary current must be calculated as I1m=I2*(E2/E1)
(E1=primary phase voltage, E2=secondary phase voltage, I2=secondary current)
If, for example, we need a 220 V single-phase voltage with a 15 kVA load, and we intend to draw from a 400 V three-phase supply, the secondary current is I2=68.18 A
Thus, the average current on the primary is I1m=68.18*(110/231)=32.46 A
The current in the central phase will be I12=I1m3/2=31.651.5=48.69 A
The current in the lateral phases will be I11=I13=I12/2=24.34 A
